This body of work Please Stand Clear (2019) was created during my Diploma of Photomedia at Billy Blue.
Artist Statement:
Please Stand Clear explores human interaction in a modern urban environment. Placing myself within a place of human transit allows me to capture minute moments in time, people touching, moving and standing next to one another for the briefest moments of time and then never seeing each other again is what drew me to this place. The way strangers interact with each other for a moment, the way you might lock eyes with someone or brush up against a stranger for a brief second but never see them again is the aspect of time that runs through this work. Each time we touch something receptors in our brain create a neural pathway allowing us to remember what the feeling corresponds to and I find the idea of hundreds of receptors being made for complete strangers very interesting. Capturing all this in a place where people pass through every day yet never stay is another aspect that I wanted to communicate.
